Vice Versa

Hi everyone! This is OST Composing Jam Sandbox submission.

The jam prompt is "Palindrome", so let me explain first what I did with this tracks to make them fit the theme.

1. Intro Sequence has a piano arpeggios which can be played in same way forward and backward. Then goes melody on trombone which flips further, but I divided notes of it between brass instruments and flute to make this flipped melody sound less awkward.

2. Kankrizan theme is almost a palindrome theme. 9/4 arpeggios on low harp notes outlining chords starts to play backwards after measure 13. But choir changes to violin and this part of arrangement is not palindrome 

3. Our Side and Other Side is absolutely same arrangement for 4 voices, but in Our Side there is a classic string quartet, and in Other Side all arrangement is flipped, slightly slowed and instruments changes to electronic sounds and guitar harmonics.

Next what I want to mention: jam hosts encourage participants to describe our fictional game we made OST for. So, let's do this :)

VICE VERSA 

Henry Dawson, a 40-year-old unemployed man, suffers from loneliness. His family and friends have turned their backs on him. He has been fired from his latest job for 2 weeks, and all he does is sit at home, get drunk and look out the window. One evening, the main character goes to the store, and when he comes out, he discovers that the world has changed. The overall color scheme has changed, the sounds have become unbearably disgusting, and people are trying to catch him, kill him, rob him. The man escapes from the chase, locks himself in the house, draws the curtains and, having drained half a bottle of whiskey, falls asleep. 

The next morning, he discovers that the world is back to normal and tries to write off what happened as a strange dream, but in the end, Henry discovers that the date has changed a month ago. 

When he leaves the house in confusion, a strange old man is already waiting for him at the door. This man says that he can move between two sides of the world - "our side" where we all live and "the other side", where all the vices hidden by people live. The old man introduces himself as Kankrizan and also explains that on the other side, time flows in the opposite direction and thus it is possible to travel into the past. Henry can no longer return to the day on which the events began, instead, Kankrizan offers him to live his life in the opposite direction in order to correct all the reasons for his regrets, to correct all his mistakes when he hurt people, betrayed them, deceived them. To do this, using the "other side" and surviving there, the main character will have to visit different stages of his life. According to Kankrizan, having thus found himself in time before his birth, Henry will be able to start life anew if he is no longer burdened by his sins. 

But is this really so? What terrible secrets does the main character's past hold? What goals does Kankrizan pursue? These questions will be answered, everything has its time.
